My daughter was annoyed I borrowed her craft paints. I told her she could borrow my cheap craft paints anytime but I think that was already assumed.
Anyhow, it turns out my painting scheme was not as original as I first thought. It was definitely inspired by this super cool building:

Isn’t it funny how you get an idea in your head you think was your own.. and it was actually mostly inspired by someone else? Well, that person is Eric’s Hobby Workshop.
In his scifi super amazing shanty structure, he uses masking fluid while I used dollar-store hairspray. So, more of my paint was removed than on his build; which has a considerably darker vibe than mine is as it is intended for Warhammer 40k or Necromunda games.
My building is more intended for Stargrave or Five Parsecs.. which is a less-dark fictional setting.
Adding colors you would find in Caribbean architecture is the vibe I am going for. Not grimdark but more seedy and funky and otherworldy.
What I did here
After a modpodge+black paint had dried, I sprayed it with a very rusty looking brown. I moddled the metal parts with various rusty colors using a sponge. Then I painted the cement areas a cement color I created using black, white, green and blue paint. Yes, cement is greenish bluish NOT grey. SO much Warhammer 40k terrain looks flat because it is only black and white. So boring!

The building levels come apart and this made painting much much easier.

Its going to look amazing with a drybrush, oil wash and pigment powder!
